Sumitomo Corporation of Japan announced on the 1st December 2011 the integration of its Australian grain logistics assets, Australian Bulk Alliance (ABA), into its joint venture partner, Emerald Group (Emerald).

Sumitomo’s decision to no longer run ABA as a standalone entity represents a shared strategy of both Emerald and Sumitomo to integrate their grain marketing and logistics capabilities to create a truly world class grain supply chain. Emerald has been a longstanding customer of ABA’s and over the years both parties had identified natural synergies between the two businesses.

This integration, which includes five Victorian storage facilities; eight franchised sites in Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia; and full ownership of Melbourne Port Terminal, will enable Emerald to offer services across the entire grain supply chain.
